Toredoria

Let's talk about Toredoria!

Toredoria is a project based out of Peoria by TJ, who is also a part of the band Grey Slush. TJ has played numerous roles for this project, such as vocals, guitar, and keys, among others. While TJ sometimes performs solo for this project, he also works with friends to have a full band experience! The Toredoria line up consists of Spencer on guitar, Zach on bass, and Alec on drums.

Currently, Toredoria has one album, Pixelate, which was released in 2022. My favorite song from him is on this album, titled "Broken Yolk." I love the build up so much. Two others I thoroughly enjoy are "Premium Content" and "Ranked Choice," as they are catchy but cover important topics. TJ's originally released music on SoundCloud for this project, and you can find songs that are not available on other platforms there as well!

I contacted TJ to ask some questions about Toredoria!

How long have you been making/playing music?

TJ: I started playing piano when I was five so really can’t remember much of a time I haven’t been playing music.

What inspires you most to make music?

TJ: Truly can be anything. For me, it’s just being open to inspiration and following wherever that leads. It’s also been fun playing a bit longer live sets with more improv and seeing what vibe everyone brings to that.

How would you describe the genre of music you make?

TJ: Most of the time I try not to. Basically, try to keep each song true to itself and whatever people call it is fine by me. One show flier called it “hazy bedroom pop”. Working on a new record that’s very much probably not that.

What is the main message you are trying to tell with your music? Or the main themes?

TJ: Currently working on a video game that has forced me to move in a more thematic direction. Prior to that, I would say the main goal was to make each song true to itself.

What is your favorite food/drink?

TJ: I really fuck with ginger ale.

You can locate Toredoria on Instagram here! While he does not have any upcoming shows at this time, Instagram is a great spot to follow to keep up with any new shows or songs! You can view him performing live below as well!
